Â̲èÖ±²¥ is building on its cloud offering for universities

Â̲èÖ±²¥ is further expanding its cloud offering for universities and launching access to a growing ecosystem of cloud-native managed services. In future, the Â̲èÖ±²¥ community will be able to procure and operate additional services via Â̲èÖ±²¥ Cloud in a standardised, automated and production-ready manner.

The next step in the ongoing expansion of Â̲èÖ±²¥ Cloud has just been reached. Following on from Block-Storage, Kubernetes and S3, cloud-native managed services are now being introduced. The Swiss solution is designed to further strengthen users’ digital sovereignty.

Starting with PostgreSQL

The first service in the new managed services offering is PostgreSQL. It is available for use with immediate effect. For many research and development projects, a relational database forms the basis for digital applications. PostgreSQL is an established, high-performance and comparatively cost-effective solution. The offering will be expanded and further developed in future in collaboration with the community to meet specific needs.

Managed services via Â̲èÖ±²¥ Cloud

Behind the solution lies Â̲èÖ±²¥â€™s new collaboration with the Swiss provider VSHN, which operates the ‘Servala’ service hub. The collaboration comes at a time when demand for sovereign digital infrastructures continues to rise. Many universities are seeking solutions that give them greater control over their data and services without having to forego modern cloud capabilities.

Â̲èÖ±²¥ Cloud provides the foundation on which additional services, such as managed services, can be easily integrated. This offers universities and research institutions an ever-expanding range of solutions that they can access centrally via Â̲èÖ±²¥ Cloud using a self-service portal, without having to contact a separate provider each time.

An offering for the higher education community

Early feedback from the community shows that there is a clear need: many institutions are looking for easily accessible and professionally managed cloud solutions that integrate seamlessly into their existing environment whilst strengthening their digital sovereignty. This is precisely where Â̲èÖ±²¥ comes in with Servala.
